Hum, I don't know why, but I prefer Chardonnay wine to else...
I have to confess, I was too careless! I drank white wine at the dinner today before I started to write this blog!
Usually, I decide not to write blog or some stuffs during drunk because if I did, I would write something strange, unusual, foolish, and crazy.
Don't say that I always write something like that without drunk!
But I drank only one glass of wine, so maybe I will be OK...
Anyway, I will write about Character today.
If you find something odd, you should not mind about it...
I wrote about Character the previous blog, "Character should be interesting."
I will tell about what interesting character is concretely.
Of course, I refer the book about play-writing, but I will tell about my thought also.
First, the character should be Off Balance.
I thought it was interesting view. Off balance, it means they can't stop one place.
For example, a character who is too selfish to think about someone, or a character who is too emotional to control oneself, or something like that.
Um, these example are too normal. So if I will continue thinking of that, umm, a man who loves to go fishing more than his wife, and he might hate his wife when she broke his pole, then some story would start. I don't know this story is interesting or not, but actually off balance people would make stories.
It should be very important to think of making a story.
Next, they must Want something.
This is also interesting view to think about characters.
Maybe somebody wants love, family, freedom, money, treasure, toys, or food. The person who wants something would never stop themselves, so the story will begin.
I think the important part of this is that every character must want something, not only main characters.
It may mean every person in the real world want something all the time during who is alive.
Third, they have Blind Spots.
The blind spots means the thing the character will never think and notice about it.
The characters' blind spots would let them in both tragedy and comedy.
I think this is similar to off balance, but the difference is the off balance makes characters interesting, but the blind spots make conclusion of the characters' future. Mm, also I can say the off balance makes conclusion, and the blind spots make interesting, so these are almost same! But just if I think of one of them, it would lack something, so I think I should think of both.
So, in my opinion, these are like one-set.
At last, they Don't Tell the Truth.
Hum, I don't know what truth is, but maybe each play has the truth of that the characters live in.
I think this is too abstract to say exactly what this is.
I am not sure even the writer know the truth in the play.
However this view is also important. If one character would tell everything in the play, maybe only thing we can do is to dump the curtain...
Huh! Finally I have finished writing about the character!
I will write about Plot next time.
Now I can drink the second glass of the wine...!
Wow!
See you!
